Message from our President, National Solidarity Party
Dear Singaporeans,
The General Election is here again and it is time to decide who you should vote for.
In a democratic society like ours, there should be a proper check and balance system within the governance.
Members of Parliament (MP) elected by the people are supposed to represent our voices in Parliament ensuring that laws enacted are just and benefit the people of Singapore.
However, with 82 PAP MPs and only two opposition MPs, the ability of the Parliament to perform its constitutional duty is seriously weakened. Non-Constituency MPs (NCMPs) are not allowed to vote on important bills. PAP MPs are obliged to vote for their party’s position due to the Party Whip.
However, the power to change this situation lies in your hands. When we vote in more opposition party candidates, we can make a huge difference in Parliament by bringing in more diverse opinions and constantly pressing the ruling party to be more sensitive to the concerns of the local Singaporeans.
This elections is not about us but about the deep-seated concerns of the local Singaporeans:-
- Singaporeans’ apprehension over the escalating cost of living.
- Increasing income disparity between the rich and poor which.
- Difficulties in coping with soaring property prices, competitive employment opportunities, over crowding in public transport system and other public infrastructures like government hospitals and polyclinics.
The National Solidarity Party (NSP) has been contesting in General Elections since 1987 consistently providing Singaporeans with the opportunity for an alternative voice.
Despite daunting odds, we have persevered and believed that the country is better off with our consistent effort in providing the necessary political competition. In this election, many brave men and women from NSP have stepped forward to stand for elections.
It is now up to you to exercise your vote wisely. Vote for the Singapore that you want to see in future. Vote NSP. We have greater diversity in our team to make Singapore more resilient, compassionate and stronger.
